Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group, has no current intention to send fighters to northern Syria to support President Bashar al-Assad, according to three sources familiar with the organization's thinking, as reported by Reuters. This decision comes amidst Assad's recent bombing of rebel-held areas, which has risked new refugee flows. Turkey's role in the conflict is larger than it appears, aiming to exploit the diminished Hezbollah backing to Assad to push him back to negotiations from a position of weakness.
