VisitHezbollah Claims Drone Attack on Netanyahu's Caesarea Home; Netanyahu Calls It Assassination Attempt
Oct 22, 2024, 11:27 AM
Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for a drone attack targeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's private residence in Caesarea, northern Israel. The incident occurred on Saturday when a Hezbollah drone penetrated Israel's air defenses and exploded near Netanyahu's home. Netanyahu described the attack as a "grave mistake" and an assassination attempt by Hezbollah, which he referred to as Iran's proxy. He released a video stating that the attempt will not deter him and vowed that the perpetrators would pay a "heavy price". In response, Netanyahu held a series of meetings with top security aides to discuss potential retaliatory actions against Iran. Hezbollah's media chief, Mohammad Afif, stated that the group takes "full and sole responsibility" for targeting Netanyahu's house. Afif also warned, "We don't have captives from Israel, but we came close," adding that "it will not be long before we have Israeli captives." Reports suggest that officials from the Iranian Embassy in Beirut were involved in the drone attack, although no casualties were reported.
