VisitHawley Releases Report on Secret Service Failures in July 13 and Second Trump Assassination Attempts
Sep 20, 2024, 05:27 PM
Senator Josh Hawley has released a 22-page whistleblower report detailing significant failures by the United States Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security in connection with the July 13 attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. The report highlights multiple security lapses, including the absence of Secret Service intelligence units at the Butler rally and inadequate security at the hospital where Trump was treated. New allegations from the whistleblower indicate that many DHS personnel were unfamiliar with security protocols, and the only training they received was inadequate. The report has been shared with a House task force. The Secret Service's internal investigation also found communication breakdowns with local law enforcement and a lack of diligence in advance planning. Acting US Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe admitted to planning deficiencies and promised that employees would be held accountable. Additionally, new whistleblower allegations have emerged regarding a second assassination attempt at Trump's golf course, where the Secret Service allegedly failed to account for known vulnerabilities.
