A 2018 video recently circulated by the Harris campaign featured Walz stating he handled 'weapons of war' during his service. However, a Harris-Walz campaign spokesperson clarified that Walz 'misspoke' in the video, as he served in the Army National Guard for 24 years but never deployed in a war zone. The controversy arose after it was revealed by Politico that Walz's 2005 campaign website included claims of being a 'war vet,' which have since been quietly amended by the Harris campaign.
