VisitHans Zimmer's 'Dune: Part Two' Score Ineligible for 2025 Oscars Best Original Score
Oct 22, 2024, 06:17 PM
Hans Zimmer's score for 'Dune: Part Two,' directed by Denis Villeneuve, has been ruled ineligible for the 2025 Oscars. The decision was made because the score includes music from 'Dune: Part One,' violating the Academy's rules that require original compositions for eligibility. Zimmer, who won the 2022 Oscar for Best Original Score for the first 'Dune' film, will not be able to compete in the same category for the sequel. The Academy's guidelines state that scores for sequels must not use more than 20% of pre-existing themes and music from previous scores in the franchise, surpassing the Academy’s limit on pre-existing music.
