A gunman, reportedly a Syrian national, opened fire near the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon on Wednesday. The incident occurred at approximately 8:34 a.m. local time. The gunman was injured in an exchange of fire with the Lebanese army and was subsequently taken into custody. One embassy staffer was also reportedly injured during the attack. Security forces are investigating the incident and searching for potential accomplices.
