VisitGunfire and Explosions in Bamako: JNIM Attacks Military Facilities, Airport Closed

Gunfire and explosions were reported in several parts of Mali's capital, Bamako, early Tuesday morning. The attacks targeted military facilities, including a gendarmerie school in Faladie and a military training camp. Separate shooting incidents were also reported at a security outpost in Senou near the Modibo Keita International Airport and a police station. The Malian army reported that the attacks were carried out by suspected terrorists, and the situation was brought under control. The airport in Bamako was closed following the incidents. An al-Qaeda affiliate, JNIM, has claimed responsibility for the attacks, stating they inflicted significant losses. The Malian government has declared the situation under control after repelling the attacks.
