Aug 28, 2024, 03:05 AM
The Guatemalan Congress has approved a budget expansion with 114 votes in favor, following a resolution by the Constitutional Court of Guatemala. The final draft of the initiative, known as 6439, includes a review fund and allocates Q14,151,700,391 to the government of President Bernardo Arévalo. This amount is nearly Q300 million less than initially proposed. The approval process saw fluctuating support, with 103 votes in favor during an earlier debate. The budget modification faced minimal opposition, with only a few floating voters and activist groups serving as a buffer against the ruling party, Semilla.
