VisitGTS Rail Wins 7-Year Contract to Operate London's Elizabeth Line
Nov 20, 2024, 08:58 AM
Transport for London (TfL) has announced that GTS Rail Operations Limited, a joint venture between Go Ahead Group, Tokyo Metro, and Sumitomo Corporation, will take over the operation of the Elizabeth Line. The decision comes after the current operator, Hong Kong-backed MTR, lost its bid to renew its contract. The new operator has been awarded a seven-year contract, aiming to bring elements of Tokyo's and London's best transport practices to the line. The RMT union has criticized the move, condemning the re-privatization of the Elizabeth Line.
