Canadian shot putter Greg Stewart has successfully defended his Paralympic gold medal at the Paris 2024 Games. Stewart, who had retired from the sport but returned less than a year ago, delivered a season-best performance with a throw of 16.38 meters on his fifth attempt in the men's shot put F46 final. The seven-foot-two athlete had three more throws remaining. This victory marks Stewart's second consecutive Paralympic gold, following his triumph in Tokyo. The Kamloops, B.C. native is the first Canadian Paralympian to win back-to-back gold medals in shot put. Stewart's remarkable comeback and achievement were celebrated with the playing of 'O Canada' at Stade de France. He is also getting married in three weeks.
