VisitGraham Potter Takes Over as West Ham Head Coach on Two-and-a-Half-Year Deal
Jan 9, 2025, 02:00 AM
West Ham United has appointed Graham Potter as their new head coach, following the dismissal of Julen Lopetegui. Potter, who has been out of management since his departure from Chelsea in April 2023, has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the club. The decision to replace Lopetegui comes after West Ham's disappointing performance this season, with the team currently sitting in 14th place in the Premier League, seven points above the relegation zone. Lopetegui, who was sacked after less than eight months in charge, managed only six wins in 20 league games. Potter expressed excitement about joining West Ham, citing the club's tradition, history, and recent success as key factors in his decision. His first challenge will be an FA Cup third-round match against Aston Villa.
