VisitGraff Point Fire Erupts in Iron County, Utah, Over 100 Acres, Likely Caused by Lightning, Prompting Evacuations

A new wildfire, named the Graff Point Fire, has erupted in Iron County, Utah, south of Cedar City. The fire, which started on Saturday morning, has quickly grown to over 100 acres, initially estimated to be 70-100 acres. Firefighters are currently working to gain access to the blaze, which is located in steep and rugged terrain. The fire is believed to have been caused by a lightning strike. An evacuation order has been issued for cabins, trailers, and recreational camps in the upper basin and Shurtz Canyon. Road closures are in effect from Shurtz Canyon Road to Right Hand/Kolob Mountain Road. Red flags have been forecast in the area, and residents are advised to avoid the region.
