VisitGov. Pritzker Announces Historic $41.42 Billion Rebuild Illinois Infrastructure Investment, Warns of Delays
Jun 14, 2024, 11:05 PM
Governor J.B. Pritzker has announced a historic $41.42 billion infrastructure investment plan in Illinois. This multi-year plan, revealed in collaboration with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), aims to improve aging roads, bridges, airports, and waterways across all counties in the state. The initiative, part of the Rebuild Illinois program, is the largest infrastructure investment in Illinois history. It includes repaving over 11,000 lane miles, upgrading 600 bridges, and implementing 800 safety improvements. Pritzker's announcement, made in McCook, marks the realization of a vision set five years ago with the bipartisan Rebuild Illinois law. While the plan promises significant improvements, it will also bring road work delays. Pritzker emphasized that these are 'real, tangible projects.'
