Google Translate has expanded its language support by adding 110 new languages, representing 614 million speakers. This marks the largest expansion in the service's history, increasing the total number of supported languages from 133 to 243. The update includes several Indian languages such as Tulu, Awadhi, and Marwadi, as well as 31 African languages, including Fon and Cantonese. The expansion was made possible through the use of Google's PaLM 2 large language model and generative AI technology.
