VisitGoogle's YouTube TV Raises Monthly Subscription to $82.99 Amid Live Sports Rights Acquisition
Dec 12, 2024, 03:29 PM
YouTube TV, a streaming service owned by Google, has announced a significant price increase for its base plan, raising the monthly subscription cost from $72.99 to $82.99 starting January 13, 2025. This adjustment marks a 14% hike, attributed to the 'rising cost of content' and investments in service quality. The price change will affect new subscribers immediately, while existing subscribers will see the increase in their first billing cycle on or after the specified date. Despite the price increase, YouTube TV will maintain its offerings, including over 100 channels, unlimited DVR storage, up to six user accounts per household, and the ability to stream on three devices simultaneously. The last price adjustment was in March 2023, when the cost went from $64.99 to $72.99 per month. This increase is also linked to YouTube TV's acquisition of exclusive live sports rights, including NFL Sunday Ticket, which has driven up costs.
