Google has introduced Med-Gemini, a new family of AI models developed by DeepMind and Google Research, designed specifically for the medical field. This advanced AI technology, which includes three versions named Ultra, Pro, and Nano, is tailored to enhance medical diagnostics and research. Med-Gemini excels in multimodal conversations about medical images, surgical videos, genomics, ultra-long health records, and ECGs. It can answer medical questions with up-to-date knowledge, utilizing agentic web search, and is noted for its ability to handle long-context information and multimodal data. The Med-Gemini models have achieved state-of-the-art performance on 10 out of 14 benchmarks, surpassing GPT-4 in all evaluated areas. A recent publication on Med-Gemini highlights its capabilities and reveals that 7.4% of questions in MedQA are unfit for evaluation.
