VisitGold Apollo Denies Making Pagers Used in Tuesday's Lebanon, Syria Explosions, Points to Budapest Firm
Sep 18, 2024, 04:08 AM
Taiwanese company Gold Apollo has denied manufacturing the pagers that exploded in Lebanon and Syria on Tuesday. The company's founder, Hsu Ching-Kuang, stated that while the pagers bore the Gold Apollo brand, they were actually produced by BAC Consulting KFT, a company based in Budapest, Hungary. The pagers, identified as Gold Apollo AR-924 models, were reportedly involved in cyberattacks and contained explosive charges. Gold Apollo clarified that the production of these pagers had been outsourced to the European company under a licensing agreement. The incident has led to scrutiny and involvement from Taiwanese authorities, with police arriving at Gold Apollo's office for further investigation.
