VisitGold Apollo Denies Making 5,000 Exploding Pagers Used by Hezbollah in Lebanon and Syria
Sep 18, 2024, 08:46 AM
The Taiwanese company Gold Apollo has denied manufacturing the pagers that exploded in Lebanon and Syria, stating that the devices were made by a Budapest-based firm, BAC Consulting KFT, under a licensing agreement. The pagers, which bore the Gold Apollo brand, were involved in simultaneous detonations targeting Hezbollah's communications network. Gold Apollo's founder, Hsu Ching-Kuang, clarified that the production of these pagers was outsourced to BAC Consulting KFT, and the company received payments routed through the Middle East. The explosions resulted in at least nine deaths. Taiwanese authorities have pledged to assist in the investigation. The pagers were part of a batch of 5,000 ordered by Hezbollah.
