VisitGermany Issues Arrest Warrant for Ukrainian Diver Volodymyr Z. in Nord Stream Attack
Aug 14, 2024, 11:07 AM
German authorities have issued a European arrest warrant for a Ukrainian national, identified as Volodymyr Z., in connection with the 2022 Nord Stream pipeline explosions. Volodymyr Z., a skilled diver, is suspected of being part of a team that sabotaged the pipelines. The investigation suggests the involvement of two other Ukrainian divers. The suspect was living in Poland but has reportedly fled the country. Germany has requested legal assistance from Poland, but Polish authorities have not detained him, as his name was not included in a database of wanted persons. The Nord Stream pipelines, which transport gas from Russia to Europe, were severely damaged in the attack, escalating geopolitical tensions. German Prosecutor General Jens Rommel issued the warrant.
