VisitGerman Cartel Office Ends Groundbreaking Case Against Meta; Users Gain Control Over Data Linking
Oct 10, 2024, 09:13 AM
Germany's competition authority, the Bundeskartellamt, has concluded its groundbreaking proceedings against Meta Platforms, formerly known as Facebook. The authority had initially prohibited Facebook in February 2019 from combining personal data of users from various sources without their consent. Meta has since agreed to remedies that allow users to decide for themselves which data from other Meta services or online sources are linked to their Facebook data. Meta also withdrew its appeal against the authority's decision.
