VisitGeorgia Candidate Chuck Hand Convicted in Jan. 6 Riot Walks Out of Primary Runoff Debate
Jun 10, 2024, 04:00 PM
Georgia congressional candidate Chuck Hand, who was convicted of a misdemeanor for illegally demonstrating inside the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, walked out of a televised debate with a fellow Republican on Sunday. The debate was held ahead of the June 18 primary runoff against an ex-Trump administration official. Hand, who expressed 'great shame' for his participation in the Capitol breach, stated, 'This is where I get back in my truck and head back to southwest Georgia.' Despite his conviction, Hand has used his involvement in the January 6 events as evidence of his commitment to the 'America First movement.'
