VisitGazprom's Omsk Oil Refinery Hit by Explosion and Fire on August 26
Aug 26, 2024, 11:25 AM
A powerful explosion occurred on August 26 at the Gazpromneft-ONPZ oil refinery in Omsk, Russia, owned by state-run energy giant Gazprom, leading to a significant fire. The explosion affected the AVT-11 unit, which is crucial for separating crude oil into fractions. The fire spread over an area of approximately 1,000 square meters. At least two people were injured in the incident. Despite the explosion and subsequent fire, the refinery, one of Russia's largest, continues to operate normally. The plant's automatic safety system detected the fire, which has now been fully contained, ensuring that production will not be affected.
