VisitGame Freak Confirms Teraleak Exposing Pokémon Game Details and Employee Data

Game Freak, the developer behind the Pokémon franchise, has confirmed a significant data breach that occurred in August 2024. The breach, which has been termed a 'teraleak' and 'gigaleak,' has led to the exposure of thousands of confidential documents, including source codes, beta builds, and personal information of over 2,600 employees. The leaked data revealed details about upcoming Pokémon projects, such as the 10th generation Pokémon game, codenamed 'Gaia,' and the Nintendo Switch 2, codenamed 'Ounce.' Additionally, the leak includes source code and beta builds of previous Pokémon games like HeartGold, SoulSilver, and Black/White 2. Among the leaked information is also data about Pokémon Movie 24, codenamed 'Bauer,' and the upcoming game Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which will feature Mega Zygarde. Game Freak has acknowledged the breach and stated that they are strengthening their security measures in response.
