Three-time Olympic champion Gabby Douglas has withdrawn from the U.S. Gymnastics Championships on Wednesday due to an ankle injury sustained during training. This withdrawal ends her bid for a spot on the U.S. women's gymnastics team for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Douglas, who won the all-around gold medal at the 2012 Olympics and is the first Black woman to achieve this feat, had been attempting a comeback after an eight-year hiatus from competition. Her injury means she will not be eligible to qualify for the Olympic Trials, thus ending her hopes of competing in Paris. Despite this setback, Douglas is reportedly looking ahead to the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
