VisitFuture HOF Chris Paul to Sign One-Year, $11M+ Deal with Spurs, Pair with Wembanyama
Jul 1, 2024, 12:35 AM
Chris Paul, a veteran NBA point guard and future Hall of Famer, has agreed to sign a one-year, $11 million-plus deal with the San Antonio Spurs. This move comes after Paul clears waivers and becomes a free agent. The Spurs have shown strong interest in pairing Paul with their young star, Victor Wembanyama. Paul was reportedly impressed with the Spurs' culture and the opportunity to mentor Wembanyama, after having a conversation with Spurs coach Gregg Popovich. The Spurs can provide Paul's salary either as an over-the-cap team with the Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level Exception of $12.8 million or with cap space.
