Jul 7, 2024, 03:06 PM
Turnout in the second round of the French legislative elections on July 7 has reached record levels. By noon, the turnout was 26.63%, the highest at this time on polling day since 1981. This figure is up 7.6 points from the second round of the last election in 2022 and 0.7 points higher than the first round. By 5pm, turnout had surged to 59.71%, with estimates later in the day indicating it could reach as high as 67%. With three hours to go, the high turnout is seen as a significant mobilization against the National Rally, according to Reuters.
