VisitFrancisco Lindor Breaks Up Bowden Francis No-Hitter in 9th, Mets Rally to Win 6-2
Sep 11, 2024, 09:13 PM
Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Bowden Francis carried a no-hitter into the ninth inning against the New York Mets. Francis, who had been dominant through eight innings with 108 pitches, saw his no-hit bid broken by Francisco Lindor's leadoff home run in the ninth, tying the game 1-1. This marks the second time in four starts that Francis has lost a no-hitter in the ninth inning. Erik Swanson and Chad Green were in the bullpen, with Edwin Diaz closing for the Mets. Despite Francis's stellar performance, the Mets rallied in the ninth inning, scoring six runs to win the game 6-2. Francis received a standing ovation as he left the game, having allowed no hits through eight innings and only one hit in four of his last six starts. The Blue Jays have only one no-hitter in franchise history, thrown by Dave Stieb.
