VisitFrance's Healthy Life Expectancy Hits 77 Years for Women, 75.5 Years for Men: Drees Study
Dec 31, 2024, 09:02 AM
In France, the healthy life expectancy without disability has reached 77 years for women and 75.5 years for men, according to a study by the Direction de la recherche, des études, de l'évaluation et des statistiques (Drees) published on December 31, 2024. The study highlights that this indicator, which measures the number of years a person can expect to live without being limited by health problems in daily activities, has been steadily increasing since 2008. At age 65, women can expect to live an additional 12 years without disability, while men can expect 10.5 years. The increase in healthy life expectancy at 65 has outpaced the overall life expectancy, which stands at 85.7 years for women and 80 years for men. France ranks fifth in the European Union for women's healthy life expectancy at 65, surpassing the European average by 2 years and 6 months, and seventh for men, exceeding the average by 1 year and 4 months.
