Oct 7, 2024, 11:30 PM
At its annual Tech Day event, Foxconn Technology Group announced plans to build the world's largest manufacturing facility for Nvidia's GB200 AI chips, known as Blackwell, in Mexico to meet soaring global demand. The GB200 chips are set to go into mass production next month and ship in December. The company highlighted that AI compute is increasing 500% per year, underscoring the "awfully huge" demand for advanced semiconductors as nations seek to develop their own AI models. Foxconn's Chairman stated that the AI investment boom still has room to grow as language models evolve. Foxconn expects a strong fourth quarter outlook, bolstered by the "very, very enormous" capacity of the new Nvidia factory in Mexico.
