Former Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao and Partner Indicted in FBI Corruption Probe Over Campaign Finance Violations

Former Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao has been criminally indicted by a federal grand jury following an FBI corruption investigation. The indictment was announced after Thao was recalled from office in November. The investigation, which began with FBI raids in June 2024, also involved the homes and businesses of the Duong family, owners of California Waste Solutions, an Oakland recycling contractor. Thao and her longtime partner, Andre Jones, were both indicted.
