VisitFormer Hochul Aide and Husband Arrested on Charges of Acting as Chinese Agents
Sep 3, 2024, 03:56 PM
Linda Sun, a former deputy chief of staff to New York Governor Kathy Hochul, was arrested by the FBI on federal charges. Sun and her husband, Chris Hu, were taken into custody at their $3.5 million Long Island home, which had been raided by federal authorities a month and a half earlier. The charges against Sun include acting as an undisclosed agent for the Chinese government and the Chinese Communist Party, as well as visa fraud, alien smuggling, and money laundering conspiracy. Sun is accused of using her position to further the interests of the Chinese government, including blocking representatives from Taiwan from meeting with state officials. The indictment also alleges that Sun's husband was involved in the money laundering conspiracy. Both are scheduled to appear before a federal judge in Brooklyn. Some charges remain sealed.
