Focus Features Acquires Yorgos Lanthimos' 'Bugonia' at Cannes, Starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons

Focus Features has acquired worldwide rights to Yorgos Lanthimos' next film, 'Bugonia,' starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons. The film, set for release next year, follows two conspiracy-obsessed young men who kidnap a high-powered CEO, believing she is an alien intent on destroying Earth. 'Bugonia' is loosely based on the Korean film 'Save the Green Planet.' This marks the first time since 2017 that Lanthimos will not collaborate with Searchlight Pictures, as Focus Features will distribute the film. The acquisition was announced at Cannes.
