VisitFlorida Sets Up Free Fuel Sites, 10 Gallons per Vehicle, Post-Hurricane Milton
Oct 12, 2024, 05:00 PM
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has announced the establishment of public fuel distribution sites in response to widespread fuel shortages following Hurricane Milton. The state has set up three initial sites in Plant City, Bradenton, and St. Petersburg, where residents can receive up to 10 gallons of fuel per vehicle free of charge. These sites are operational from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Additional sites are expected to open soon in other affected areas, including Hillsborough, Pinellas, Sarasota, and Manatee counties. The state has over 1.8 million gallons of diesel and over a million gallons of gasoline on hand to support this effort. DeSantis visited the Plant City site to oversee the distribution and emphasized the importance of these measures in aiding recovery efforts. Gas lines have been reported at various stations, and a new site will open at Charlotte Sports Park.
