VisitFlorida Prepares for Hurricane Milton with 37,000 Linemen and 1.2 Million Gallons of Fuel

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has announced extensive preparations for Hurricane Milton. The state has amassed significant fuel reserves, including 415,000 gallons of diesel, 389,000 gallons of gasoline, and an additional 1.5 million gallons of fuel. Approximately 37,000 linemen, with some coming from as far as California, are on standby for power restoration, with hopes to exceed 40,000. DeSantis initially estimated around 30,000 linemen for the task. Additionally, the Florida National Guard has been activated with thousands of guardsmen and dozens of search and rescue aircraft. The state has also removed over 21,000 cubic yards of debris in anticipation of the hurricane. Another 1.2 million gallons of fuel are incoming with trooper escorts.
