VisitFlorida Man Harun Yener Arrested in Plot to Bomb NYSE to 'Reset' U.S. Government
Nov 21, 2024, 03:05 AM
Federal authorities have arrested a homeless Florida man, identified as 30-year-old Harun Abdul-Malik Yener from Coral Springs, on charges of plotting to bomb the New York Stock Exchange. The FBI had been investigating Yener since February after receiving a tip about bomb-making schematics stored in his storage unit. Undercover agents engaged with Yener, who allegedly expressed a desire to "reboot" or "reset" the U.S. government by destroying the financial system. He reportedly said he "feels like Bin Laden" and planned to detonate the bomb remotely before Thanksgiving. Yener had previously considered joining ISIS in 2015 and was arrested on Wednesday. He faces federal charges for attempting to use an explosive device to damage or destroy a building used in interstate commerce.
