An Indian Army convoy was ambushed by terrorists in the Machedi area of Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir. The attack resulted in the deaths of five soldiers and injuries to six others. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon around 3:30 PM, with terrorists reportedly hurling grenades and opening fire on the convoy. The area falls under the jurisdiction of the Army's 9 Corps and is located in the Billawar region, approximately 120km from Kathua. Following the attack, a massive search and cordon operation was launched by security forces. The encounter between the terrorists and the army personnel is ongoing, with efforts to neutralize the attackers. The Kashmir Tigers, a militant outfit, has claimed responsibility for the attack. This marks the second major attack in Kathua district within a month.
