Dec 27, 2024, 04:51 PM
A fire broke out at the Bryant Park holiday market in New York City on Friday morning, destroying two vendor booths and causing slight damage to a neighboring kiosk and the roof of the nearby ice skating rink. The blaze started around 9:20 a.m. in a kiosk approximately six feet by 40 feet long on West 40th Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues, sending plumes of black smoke over Midtown Manhattan. Firefighters from the FDNY responded quickly and were able to extinguish the flames, preventing the fire from spreading further. No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The incident led to the evacuation of the park's winter village and temporary closure of nearby attractions, including the ice skating rink.
