A significant fire broke out around 12:45 AM at BAE Systems' nuclear submarine shipyard in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, UK. Emergency services attended the scene, and two people were taken to hospital. The police have confirmed that there is no nuclear risk. The fire originated in the Devonshire Dock Hall, the main building facility that houses the Royal Navy's Astute-class submarines and the first sections of the Dreadnought-class submarines. All workers have been accounted for, and the facility was evacuated. The cause of the fire is under investigation, with faulty equipment being considered as a possible cause. Residents near the site were advised to remain indoors and keep doors and windows closed as a precaution.
