FBI Disrupts Flax Typhoon's Chinese Botnet of 260,000 IoT Devices

The FBI has announced the successful disruption of a botnet comprising 260,000 Internet of Things (IoT) devices, allegedly operated by a Chinese company on behalf of the Chinese government. FBI Director Christopher Wray stated that the botnet, linked to the Chinese hacking group 'Flax Typhoon,' was used to collect intelligence for Chinese state agencies. The operation involved multiple U.S. government agencies, including the NSA, and targeted a company that posed as an IT firm. This marks the second major Chinese hacking group disrupted by U.S. law enforcement last week.
