VisitFBI Director Testifies on Trump Assassination Attempt, Reveals Eight Shots, Drone Footage, and Explosive Devices
Jul 24, 2024, 03:43 PM
FBI Director Christopher Wray testified before the House Judiciary Committee regarding the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, fired eight bullets in under six seconds before being killed by a U.S. Secret Service sniper. Wray revealed that Crooks had flown a drone around the rally area for 11 minutes, two hours before the shooting, approximately 200 yards from the stage, and had searched online for details about the JFK assassination on the day he registered for the rally. Three explosive devices, described as relatively crude, were recovered, two from Crooks' vehicle and one from his home, with remote detonators that were not turned on. Wray emphasized that there is no evidence of accomplices or co-conspirators at this time, and the investigation into Crooks' motive and preparations is ongoing.
