VisitFBI and Congress Probe Trump Assassination Attempt by Shooter Thomas Crooks at Butler Rally
Aug 28, 2024, 06:20 PM
The investigation into the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump on July 13, 2024, during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, remains ongoing with several congressional task forces and the FBI involved. The bipartisan House task force, led by Republican Mike Kelly, has expressed frustration over the lack of transparency from the FBI and the Secret Service. Despite conducting nearly 1,000 interviews, the FBI has not identified a motive for the shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old nursing home aide from Bethel Park. Crooks had conducted extensive online searches related to both Trump and President Joe Biden before the attack and was reportedly 'hyper-focused' on the Trump rally as a 'target of opportunity.' Surveillance video shows Crooks was on the roof for six minutes before opening fire. The FBI has released photos showing Crooks' AR-15 rifle and explosives found in his car. Lawmakers are pressing for more answers and accountability, with some expressing concerns over the Secret Service's handling of the event.
