Nov 14, 2024, 12:40 AM
The FBI and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) have uncovered a comprehensive cyber-espionage campaign conducted by Chinese state-sponsored hackers. The investigation revealed that these hackers breached multiple U.S. telecommunications companies, including AT&T and Verizon, compromising networks and stealing customer call records and private communications. The campaign targeted individuals primarily involved in government and political activities, and also included the theft of wiretap data provided to law enforcement through court orders. The FBI and CISA have released a joint statement on this issue, emphasizing the significant threat posed by these cyber activities. This disclosure comes just days before Presidents Xi and Biden are scheduled to meet.
