The FBI has arrested Teresa Youngblut, a 21-year-old woman from Washington state, in connection with the fatal shooting of 44-year-old U.S. Border Patrol Agent David Maland in Vermont. The incident occurred during a traffic stop on Interstate 91 in Coventry, near the Canadian border. Youngblut, who was driving, allegedly fired at Maland without warning, while her passenger, Felix Baukholt, a German national, attempted to draw a firearm. Baukholt was killed in the shootout, and Maland succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. The pair had been under surveillance by law enforcement since January 14 due to suspicious behavior reported by a hotel employee. Authorities found an arsenal of weapons and tactical gear in their vehicle, including a ballistic helmet, night-vision goggles, respirators, ammunition, shooting range targets, two-way radios, electronic devices, and a journal. Baukholt was initially thought to have an expired visa, but it was later confirmed to be current.
