VisitFAA Halts US Flights to Haiti After Gunfire Hits Spirit and JetBlue Planes Near Port-au-Prince

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced Tuesday that it has banned US airlines from flying to Haiti for 30 days after planes from Spirit Airlines and JetBlue were struck by gunfire near Port-au-Prince airport on Monday. The planes, originating from Florida, were attacked as they attempted to land and were diverted to the Dominican Republic. The attacks are believed to have been carried out by gangs in the area.
