VisitExpress Scripts Sues FTC, Lina Khan for Defamation Over Drug Pricing Report
Sep 17, 2024, 11:22 AM
Express Scripts, a unit of Cigna and one of the largest pharmacy benefit managers in the United States, has filed a lawsuit against the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The lawsuit demands the retraction of a recent FTC report that criticized companies negotiating drug prices, alleging that the report's conclusions are defamatory. The FTC's report, released in July, claimed that prescription middlemen, such as Express Scripts, contribute to higher drug costs for consumers and harm pharmacists. Express Scripts argues that the report contains misleading claims about the industry. The lawsuit specifically accuses FTC Chair Lina Khan of defamation.
