Jul 24, 2024, 04:22 AM
An explosion at the José Cuervo tequila factory, La Rojeña, in Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico, has resulted in the deaths of at least five people and injuries to two others. The incident, which occurred on July 23, 2024, involved a 500,000-liter tank and caused a fire that was later extinguished by company personnel. Two additional tanks collapsed due to the blast. Authorities evacuated workers and tourists from the area, but they have since been allowed to return. The factory housed four containers with a capacity of 219,000 liters each. The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation. Emergency services continue to search for five missing individuals. Víctor Hugo Roldán, director general of Jalisco's Civil Protection, indicated that a heat-related maneuver might have triggered the explosion.
