VisitExplosion at Grozny's Lider Gas Station Kills Four, Including Two Children; Tanker Thrown 300 Meters
Oct 12, 2024, 01:13 PM
An explosion at the Lider gas station on Muhammad Ali Avenue in Grozny, the capital of Chechnya in Russia, has resulted in multiple casualties. At least four people, including two children aged 5 and 6, were killed in the blast. A mother and child were injured when a gas cylinder was hurled by the explosion. The powerful blast launched a fuel tanker over 300 meters into a nearby residential area, crushing vehicles and causing further damage. The explosion occurred near a college, and authorities report that the fire is still burning with ongoing explosions. Inspectors revealed that the station failed to meet basic safety standards; Rostekhnadzor's 2021 inspection cited nine safety violations. The cause of the explosion is currently unknown.
