VisitEx-CIA Analyst Asif Rahman Pleads Guilty to Leaking Israeli Iran Strike Plans
Jan 17, 2025, 07:14 PM
Former CIA analyst Asif William Rahman pleaded guilty on Friday to charges of willfully transmitting classified national defense information. Rahman, 34, admitted to leaking top-secret documents detailing Israel's military preparations for a retaliatory strike on Iran's missile networks, which were posted on social media last year and led officials to delay the attack. Rahman, who had worked at the CIA since 2016 and was stationed at the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, acknowledged illegally downloading, printing, and transmitting the sensitive files. He initially denied the charges but changed his plea in a federal court in Alexandria, Virginia. Sentencing is scheduled for May 15, and he faces up to 20 years in federal prison. The Department of Justice announced his guilty plea.
