VisitEx-Ald. Edward Burke's Lawyers Seek to Overturn Racketeering Conviction on Wednesday
Jun 5, 2024, 12:23 PM
Six months after former Chicago Alderman Edward Burke’s landmark corruption conviction, his lawyers are set to make an in-person pitch today, Wednesday, at the Dirksen Federal Courthouse to overturn the conviction. Burke, 80, is seeking a retrial on some counts and an outright acquittal on others. He is due to be sentenced in three weeks. Burke’s legal team faces a challenging task as they argue for the dismissal of the racketeering charges. Burke arrived at the courthouse wearing a kelly green tie and pocket square.
