VisitEU Targets Russia's Shadow Fleet with 15th Sanctions Package
Dec 11, 2024, 03:16 PM
EU ambassadors have reached a political agreement on the 15th package of sanctions against Russia in response to its ongoing aggression in Ukraine. The new sanctions package targets Russia's 'shadow fleet' of vessels used to circumvent the G7 price cap on seaborne oil, as well as individuals and entities supporting Russia's war efforts. The agreement was confirmed by the Hungarian EU presidency, with EU leaders expressing commitment to maintaining pressure on the Kremlin. This package expands existing sanctions and aims to address efforts to bypass previous restrictions. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, stated, 'We are committed to maintaining the pressure on the Kremlin.'
